Chocolate and coconut go so perfectly together it's like they should be married. This decadent combination of flavors is what makes these macaroon cookies so absolutely and utterly delicious that I have no choice but to classify them as swoon-worthy. ... continue reading...
Winter Minestrone Soup
It was a cold winter's day in New England and I really did not feel like venturing out to the grocery store. I needed to make dinner for the family, but looking out the window and seeing the snow swirling across my backyard, I made a decision. I was most definitely not going out. I would figure out something to make with what I had in the pantry. As my grandmother would say "sometimes you have to make do" .....or something like that. ... continue reading...
Butterscotch Bread Pudding
When I was growing up my mother made this recipe for Butterscotch Bread Pudding. It was definitely a family favorite. "This recipe was your great-great grandmother's recipe", she would say as she carefully placed it in the oven. Yes, Grammy O'Brien made this very recipe over 100 years ago. ... continue reading...

It is sweet without being "too sweet" and although it looks rich, this creamy elegant tart melts in your mouth ensuring that you finish every last bite. ... continue reading...

I walked through the produce market with no real plan other than buying veggies of different bright colors. This salad of greens, reds, orange and purples is the result. So pretty, really tasty and if you are looking for healthy foods to eat, I am not sure you can do better than this. ... continue reading...
Homemade Tomato Soup
I grew up with Campbell's soup. Our pantry was always stocked with several different varieties but the favorite by far was their tomato soup. It was great for a hot simple lunch that we would have with some crackers or a grilled cheese. Once my mother trusted us with using the stove, we could easily make it ourselves when she had to work late or study for a class that she was taking at the local college. The years of course past and when I married and had a family of my own, I found I preferred ... continue reading...
